Drainage Operator

Alpine Civil is looking for a motivated, highly skilled Drainage Operator to join our team. If you have drainage installation experience or technical excavation experience, we would love to hear from you.   

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Operate excavators and machinery for 3-waters (potable-water, wastewater and stormwater) installation works 

  • Assist with hands-on site tasks when and where required, including but not limited to assisting drainlayer, compaction, backfilling and other on-site acitivties.  

  • Support the Foreman with daily tasks and site coordination 

  • Ensure safe use of trench shields, shoring, and lifting equipment 

  • Installation in a range of pipe materials and pipe fittings including polyethylene, PVC, GRP, ductile iron and stainless steel.  

  • Maintain plant and equipment to a high standard for utilisation  

  • Work efficiently individually and with the team to meet project timelines awhile maintaining quality standards 

 

What you will bring to the team

 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience operating machinery in drainage teams 

  • Current Class 4 license with WTR endorsements 

  • Strong technical skills in trenching, deep excavation, and excavating around existing underground and overhead services 

  • Experience working with trench shields and shoring systems 

  • Competence in installing concrete structures such as manholes, chambers, and sumps 

  • A great attitude with a hands-on approach to get in the trench with the team when needed 

  • Strong understanding of drainage standards and site safety requirements 

  • Reliable, safety‑conscious, and a genuine team player
